This award honors Alex for his skills, leadership and value, which he brings to the construction community. Alex demonstrates reliability, attention to detail and strong work ethic, that makes him a great team member and ideal candidate for Employee of the Year. CANA is a proud member of the Merit Contractors Association, that provides training and tools for employees in construction.
Studio Bell was honoured at the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) Awards on May 4, 2017. The project took home two awards, including the prestigious Steel Edge Award and Architectural Award. CANA Construction was the Construction Manager on this project, with Allied Works Architecture, Kasian Architecture, Read Jones Christoffersen and Walters Group.
A cultural institution dedicated to Canadian music, Studio Bell is an iconic piece of architecture in Canada. It is a museum, performance hall, interactive music education centre, recording studio and broadcast centre.
The buildings striking design and unique geometry have garnered the project national attention. One of the most unique features is that all of the structural elements are curved or inclined, with no two angles alike. The complex design and construction have been recognized in the industry with various awards.
Studio Bell will allow Canadian music to be celebrated and shared and will inspire a new generation of music enthusiasts.
The Aurora and Crowsnest Residence Halls, also known as Phase 7 and 8 Residences at the University of Calgary, were named by the Alberta Construction Magazine as The Sustainability Excellence Project of the Year.
The Taylor Centre for Performing Arts at the Mount Royal University, featuring the Conservatory and Bella Concert Hall, was named Alberta’s Top Institutional Project over $50M, as well as received the highest honour of Top Project of the Year.
The Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning was honoured by the Alberta Construction Magazine for Top Institutional Project under $50M, as well as the Institutional Design Project of the Year.
CANA Group was thrilled to be part of the annual Construction Career Expo hosted by the Calgary Construction Association (CCA), which took place April 22 at the BMO Centre, downtown Calgary.

CANA Construction teamed up with the CCA and students at the annual CCA Construction Career Expo to construct six dog houses for the Humane Society. The dog houses will provide new homes for dogs throughout the Morley area that are in dire need.
